First, get rid of the fractions, mult by 6 and you have
4(x-3) + 6(6) = 1(2x+24)
4x - 12 + 36 = 2x + 24
4x + 24 = 2x + 24
subtract 24 from both sides
4x = 2x
only solution is x = 0
:
That will work in the original problem
(0-3) + 6 = (0+24)
-2 + 6 = 4
