Question 894987: (3,6); x+8y=7 I need help on this
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
plug in 3 for x and 6 for y
x+8y=7
3+8*6=7
3+48=7
51=7
since 51 doesn't really equal 7 then we know that point (3,6) is not on the line x+8y=7 and is not a solution for x+8y=7
x+8y=7
3+8y=7
8y=4
y=4/8=1/2
(3,1/2) is on the line x+8y=7 and is a solution for x+8y=7
x+8y=7
x+8*6=7
x+48=7
x=-41
(-41,6) is on the line x+8y=7 and is a solution for x+8y=7
