x-y=2
Using the second equation's left member,
x-y+(x+y)=2+x+y, which is just Addition Property for Equality,
x-y+x+y=2+8, which is mostly substitution using that same second equation,
2x+0=10
2x=10
x=5

Solve the system equation by graphing
x-y=2
x+y=8

x - y = 2
x - 0 = 2 ------- Substituting 0 for y to determine x-intercept
x = 2
Point to graph: (2, 0)
x - y = 2
0 - y = 2 ------- Substituting 0 for x to determine y-intercept
- y = 2
y = , or y = - 2
Point to graph: (0, - 2)
Repeat the process for the other equation to determine its x and y-intercepts
Graph both lines. Where they INTERSECT is your solution.
