Question 865015: solve system of equations using elimination
4x-9y=61
10x+3y=25

Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4x-9y=61
10x+3y=25

Multiply everything in equation two by 3 to get

4x-9y=61
30x+9y=75

Now add the equations

4x-9y=61
30x+9y=75
---------------
34x+0y=136

This means

34x = 136

x = 136/34

x = 4

Now use this to find y

4x-9y=61

4(4)-9y=61

16-9y=61

-9y=61-16

-9y=45

y=45/(-9)

y=-5

The solutions are x = 4, y = -5
