Question 86153: 3x - 5(3x - 7) = 2(x + 9) + 45
Answer by ptaylor(2198)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x-5(3x-7)=2(x+9)+45 First, lets get rid of parens
3x-15x+35=2x+18+45 Next, we will subtract 35 and also 2x from both sides. This will get the unknowns on one side of the equation and the numbers on the other
3x-15x+35-35-2x=2x-2x+18+45-35 now we will collect like terms
-14x=28 divide both sides by -14

x=-2-------------------------------ans
CK
3(-2)-5{3(-2)-7}=2(-2+9)+45
-6-5(-6-7)=2(7)+45
-6-5(-13)=14+45
-6+65=14+45
59=59
Hope this helps----ptaylor
