Hi,
Apples to Apples
6x + y = 8
-4x + 2y = 9
-12x- 2y = -16
-4x + 2y = 9
-16x = -7
x = 7/16 and y = 128/16 - 42/16 = 86/16 = 43/8
solution (7/16, 43/8)
CHECKING our answer***
-4x + 2y = 9
-7/4 + 43/4 = 36/4 = 9
