Right away we can see that equation 1 evaluates to x = 6. Since we know that we can substitute that value into equation 2.
2-5y=-29
Now solve for y.
Subtract 2 from both sides.
-5y = -35
Divide each side by -5
y = 7
Therefore the solution is x = 6 y = 7
