Question 83954: Graph the equation
x+4y=5
Thanks!I am having trouble understanding how to get this on a graph.

Answer by checkley75(3666)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+4y=5
4y=-x+5
y=-x/4+5/4 answer for the line equation.
now set x=0 & solve for y.
y=-0/4+5/4
y=5/4 or the point (0,5/4)
now set y=0 & solve for x.
0=-x/4+5/4
-x/4=-5/4 now cross multiply.
-4x=-20
x=-20/-4
x=5 or the point (5,0).
now plot these two points and draw a line through them.
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, y = -x/4 +5/4).
