How many liters each of a 75% chlorine solution and a 45% chlorine solution should be used to obtain 15 liters of a 65% chlorine solution?
:
Let x = amt of 75% solution
then
(15-x) = amt of 45% solution
:
.75x + .45(15-x) = .65(15)
.75x + 6.75 - .45x = 9.75
.75x - .45x = 9.75 - 6.75
You should be able to complete this now, check solution in the original equation
