6x + 6y = 12
y = 5 - 7x
My thinking is put it into y=mx+b form: I moved the 6x from the left to the right: 6y=-6x+12 then divided all of that by 6 to isolate the y: y=-1x+2. For the other set: y=5-7x, I simply rearranged it to read: y=-7x+5. I believe my graphing points would then be (for the first set) (0,2) and (1,-1) and (second set) (0,5) and (1,-7). I believe the solution should be the points at which the two lines meet on the graph which I show as (1,1). As you can see, that is not an option.
These are the possible answers, but when I work it out, I do not come up with any of these!

(1.5, 0.5)

(–0.5, 1.5)

(0.5, 1.5)

You had the following:
y=-1x+2 and y=5-7x.
So since each right hand side is equal y
-1x + 2 = 5 - 7x
add 1x to each side
2 = 5 -6x
add -5 to each side
-3 = -6x
divide each side by -6
1/2 = x
Substitute 1/2 for x in y = 5 - 7x
y = 5 -7(1/2)
y = 5 -7/2
y = 10/2 -7/2
y = 3/2
So our solution is x = 1/2 y= 3/2 or x = 0.5 y = 1.5
This is the same as your last choice (0.5,1.5)
