Answer by JulietG(1812)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5(a-1)+3=28
Distribute the 5
5a - 5 + 3 = 28
Subtract 3 from each side
5a - 5 = 25
add 5 to each side
5a = 25 + 5
Add
5a = 30
Divide each side by 5
a = 30/5 = 6
