7x+y=-5 as given,
y=-7x-5 in slope-intercept form.
The slope of the given line is -7.
Any line parallel to the given line also has slope of -7.
What is b, for y=-7x+b, if this line contains (1,-3)?
b=y-(-7x)
b=y+7x
Substitute the point coordinates,
b=-3+7*1
b=4
Finishing the equation, the line passing through (1,-3) having slope -7 is

One of the most common types of questions, worth a lesson. I have not made one yet, since all good algebra books have good instruction on this kind of problem
