Let x be the unknown number. -19 times a number minus 62 is equal to -7 less than a number. What is the number?
step 1: write equation. -19x -62= -7-x
step 2: -19x-62=-7-x
+62=+62
+1x +x

= -18x=55
x=3.05????

 -19 times a number minus 62 is equal to  -7 less than a number 

What is the number? -19x -62= x-7 ***

 -19x -62= x-7

 -20x = 55

    x =  = -23⁄4
