Question 798520: what is the value of x in the equation {6x+5y=245 ; 4x+3y=155 using elimination by substitution method?
Answer by mananth(16946) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
6 x + 5 y = 245 .............1
5 y = 245 + -6 x
/ 5 =
y = 49 + -1.2 x
4 x + 3 y = 155 .....................2
Substitute y in (2)
4 x + 3 ( 49 + -1.2 x ) = 155
4 x + 147 + -3.6 x = 155
4 x -3.6 x = 8
0.4 x = 8
/ 0.4
x= 20
Plug the value of x in (1)
6 x + 5 y = 245
6 * 20 + 5 y = 245
120 + 5 y = 245
5 y = 125
/ 5
y= 25
