Question 777493: How do you solve two-step equations with fractions?
Like this one:
15 + q/6 = -21
And
14 + m/10 = 24
I know how to do normal ones like: -3 + 5x = 12. [x= 3]
On the first problem I showed, I got stuck at the end where it is q/6 = -36 and I cant figure out what to do next. Same with the second ine
I learned this last year but over the summer I forgot and I need a visual aid because other ways don't really help. I am in Algebra 1 this year and I'm in 8th grade and am in gifted classes but I still need help.
Thank you!!! :)

Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
15 + q/6 = -21
---------
1st: Get rid of the denomiator(s)
90 + q = -126
2nd::Isolate the variable
q = -126-90
q = -216
=======================
And
14 + m/10 = 24
140 + m =240
m = 240-140
m =100
------------

You can solve it using that method. After you get to this point, , or , you'll need to CROSS-MULTIPLY to get:
q * 1 = q
6 * - 36 = - 216
