Question 770160: In a certain year, the amount of A garbage in pounds produced after t day by an average household is given by A=1.5t.
It wants me to graph graph equation for t is greater than 0. (dont have greater than sign on computer)
Then it wants me to tell them how many days it will take to get 100 pounds of garbage.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
To graph this, you would plot the points (2,3) and (4,6). Then you would draw a line through those two points.
How did I get those points? I plugged in x = 2 and got y = 3. Then I plugged in x = 4 and got y = 6
ex: y = 1.5x ---> y = 1.5*2 ---> y = 3, so that shows us that (2,3) is on the line.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To answer the second part, plug in A = 100 and solve for t
A = 1.5t
100 = 1.5t
100/1.5 = t
t = 100/1.5
t = 66.667
So it will take roughly 66.667 days
