"Write the equation of the line (in slope intercept form) that goes through the point (2,2) and is parallel to the line 4x-2y=6"
Also how do you find the equation if you are given the points and the perpendicular equation?

Find the slope of the given equation.
2y = 4x-6
y = 2x-3
----
slope = 2
-------------
Form: y = mx+b
Solve for "b":
2 = 2*2 + b
b = -2
Equation: y = 2x-2

If you want a perpendicular equation the slope will be -1/2
Form: y = mx + b
Solve for "b":
2 = (-1/2)2 + b
2 = -1 + b
b = 3
Eqation:: y = (-1/2)x + 3
