Question 748703: determine whether the pair of equations represents parallel lines 3x-4y=6 8x+6y=6
Answer by Cromlix(4381)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Turn both equations into the
standard form of y = mx + c
3x - 4y = 6
4y = - 3x + 6
y = - 3/4x + 3/2
8x + 6y = 6
6y = - 8x + 6
y = - 8/6x + 1
y = -4/3x + 1
As both gradients are different
namely -3/4 and -4/3 then these
lines are not parallel.
