Question 73074: An airplane covered 22 miles of its route while decreasing its altitude by 25,000 feet. Find the slope of the airplane's line of descent. Round to the nearest hundredth. (1 mi-5280 feet).
So far I have m=25000/22mi * 1/5280=25000/116160=2500/11616=1250/5808=625/2904.
I have not idea if I am doing this correctly.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
An airplane covered 22 miles of its route while decreasing its altitude by 25,000 feet. Find the slope of the airplane's line of descent. Round to the nearest hundredth. (1 mi-5280 feet).
---------
slope = (change in altitude)/(distance along the ground)
=[(-25000 ft)/(22 miles)]
=[-25000*1]/[22*5280]
= -25000/116160
= -0.21522
------
This is the same answer you have except for the negative.
