Answer by oscargut(2103)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(y - 4) - (y + 8) = 9y
y - y -4 -8 = 9y
-12 = 9y
9y = -12
y = -12/9
y = -4/3
Answer: y = -4/3

(y - 4) - (y + 8) = 9y REMOVE ( ).
Y-4-Y-8=9Y PUT Y TERMS ON THE LEFT & INTEGERS ON THE RIGHT
Y-Y-9Y=4+8 COMBINE Y TERMS & INTEGERS.
-9Y=12
Y=12/-9
Y=-4/3 ANS.
PROOF:
(-4/3-4)-(-4/3+8)=9(-4/3)
-4/3-12/3+4/3-24/3=-36/3
(-4-12+4-24)/3=-36/3
(-40+4)/3=-36/3 /3=12
-36/3=-36/3
-12=-12
