Question 714375: How do I solve this question?
l. 2x +y+5
2. 3x +y = -9
Needs to be solved by substitution.
Answer by harrysgirl143(11) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
solve the first one for y.
so it is y=-2x-5
then you take that equation and put it in the y spot in the other equation
3x-2x-5=-9
then solve
x-5=-9
x=-4
then put x=-4 in the first original equaation
2(-4)+y=5
-8+y=5
y=13
so the answer is (-4,13)
