: We are writing the following problem in "Point Slope Form" I am stuck on this problem and would love some help.
line through (2,3) and (-5,6)
I know to find the slope I have
m=6-3/-5-2 = 3/-7
Y-Yo=M(X-Xo)
also the second problem is
line through (2,-4)
parallel to (6,2)&(-2,6)
Find the Point slope form.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tammi

Answer by checkley75(3666) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
slope=(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
slope=(6-3)/(-5-2)
slope=3/-7=-3/7
------------------------------------------
slope=(6-2)/(-2-6)
slope=4/-8
slope=-1/2 now we substitute the x,y values along with the slope to find the y intercept(b)
-4=-1/2*2+b
-4=-1+b
b=-4+1
b=-3 thus the equation for this line with a slope of -1/2 & passing through
(2,-4) is
y=-x/2-3
