Question 70325: The question asks to graph the linear inequalities. Then write three ordered pairs that are solutions to the inequality.
5x-6y> 18
(or equal to)
I subtracted 5x from each side so I would have -6y> -5x+18
(or equal to)
Then I divided by -6y from each side but I don't know what to do now

The question asks to graph the linear inequalities. Then write three ordered pairs that are solutions to the inequality.
5x-6y> 18
---------
When graphing INEQUALITIES you first must graph the corresponding EQUALITY
which is the boundary of the inequality.
Graph 6y<5x-18, which is
y<(5/6)x-3
You need two points to graph the equality y=(5/6)x-3
If x=0, y=-3 giving you point (0,-3)
---------
If x=6, y=2 giving you point (6,2)
Plot those two points and draw a dotted or dashed line thru them.
Because you want y LESS THAN (5/6)x-3 shade the half-plane BELOW
the dotted line.
That is the graph you want.
Now, find 3 points in the solution set of y<(5/6)x-3
Consider the point that were on the line: (0,-3) and (6,2)
Pick some points where the x-value is the same but the y is "less than".
EG: (0,-10),or (0,-100), (6,0), or (6,1)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Stan H.
