Question 702681: What is the standard form of the equation of the line passing through the point (5,5) and perpendicular to the line 5x-4y=4x+5y
Answer by sachi(548) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x-4y=4x+5y
or 5x-4x=5y+4y
or 9y=x
or y=x/9
so the slope =1/9
the line perpendicular to the line 5x-4y=4x+5y will have slope=-9
now the standard form of the equation of the line passing through the point (5,5) and perpendicular to the line 5x-4y=4x+5y is [y-5]/[x-5]=-9
or [y-5]=-9[x-5]=-9x+45
or y=-9x+50
