Question 681008: write the equation for a line that has a slope of 1/2 through the point (6,-4)
y=?
When asked to write an equation of a line given a point and a slope we can use the point-slope formula where m = slope and (x1,y1)= the point.
and (x1,y1)=(6,-4)

Hope that helped. Happy Calculating!

write the equation for a line that has a slope
of 1/2 through the point (6,-4)
---------
Form: y = mx + b
You know m = 1/2 and y = -4 when x = 6
Solve for "b":
-4 = (1/2)*6 + b
-4 = 3 + b
b = -7
------
Equation:
y = (1/2)x - 7
