Question 679197: i am having a lot of trouble figuring out how to do this problem, the directions say to plot three ordered pair solutions of the given equation and then draw a line through the three points, y = -3x + 1, the answer in the back of the book is (3,3) im just not understanding 1. how they get 3,3? 2. if they ask to plot 3 points where are the other 2? and the directions in the chapter suggest that i make up 3 numbers for x and use the equation to solve for y... im so lost... i dont understand this at all.. and all of the problems are similar to this one.

Not sure where (3,3) originated either, as it is not a point on the line.
If x is 3, then
y = -3(3) + 1 = -9 + 1 = -8

If y is 3, then
3 = -3x + 1
3 - 1 = -3x
