Question 67583: please help me solve this question; Determine the number of simultaneous solutions of x-2=3 and 4x+8y=10 answers to choose from are one, two, no solution, infinitely many solutions or none of the above. Answer by ybalkas(3) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!(I)x-2=3 and (II)4x+8y=10
From the first equation x=5
and second equation if you put 5 instead of x , you get 4.5+8y=10
8y=-10
y=-10/8
So the equation has unique solution.
| Solved by pluggable solver: DESCRIBE a linear EQUATION: slope, intercepts, etc |
Equation describes a sloping line. For any
equation ax+by+c = 0, slope is .- X intercept is found by setting y to 0: ax+by=c becomes ax=c. that means that x = c/a. 10/4 = 2.5.
- Y intercept is found by setting x to 0: the equation becomes by=c, and therefore y = c/b. Y intercept is 10/8 = 1.25.
- Slope is -4/8 = -0.5.
- Equation in slope-intercept form: y=-0.5*x+1.25.
