Question 673925: Hi. I need a simple way to find the x and y intercepts of the line that passes through the given points.
(-6,4) (3,-5)
(-5,-5) (4,-2)
(-7,6) (-4,11)
(-2,8) (4,2)
(3,-8) (-4,13)
(5,0.4) (-1,-2)
Thanks! My math is due tomorrow. Please help and explain! My math teaher did not teach this!!!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1. Find Slope:
2. Use one point set and slope in the point slope formula:
3. b is the y -intercept in the y = mx+b format
4. Set y = 0 and solve for x and the x intercept is where y = 0
...
(-6, 4) (3, -5)
1. slope =
2. y-4 = -1(x--6)
y-4 = -x - 6
y = -x - 6 + 4
3. y = -x - 2 : linear equation with y intercept of -2 or (0, -2)
4. 0 = -x - 2
x = -2 , so (-2, 0) is the x intercept
...
(-5,-5) (4,-2)
1. slope
2. y - - 5 = (x--5)
y + 5 =
y =
y =
3. y = : linear equation with y intercept of or (0, )
4. 0 =

10 = x, so (10, 0) is the x intercept
...
And so on for the remainder of the points.
