Question 669179: a boy can row a boat downstream in 6 kph and upstream in 2kph. how fast can he go in still water and what is the rate of the current?
Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
speed of boat in still water be x mph
speed of current = y mph
x+y=6
x-y=2
add the two equations
2x=8
x=4 speed of boat in still water
speed of current = 2 mph
