Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3/4x-1/3x+=5/6x-5 LCM is 24x so we'll first multiply every term by 24x
(24x/4x)(3)-24x/3x=(24x/6x)(5)-5(24x) simplify
18-8=20-120x subtract 20 from both sides
18-8-20=20-20-120x collect like terms
-10=-120x divide both sides by -120
x=10/120=1/12
ck
3/4(1/12)-1/3(1/12)=5/6(1/12)-5
9-4=10-5
5=5
