Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Y=mX+b
Y=3X+48 THE 48 IS THE STARTING HEIGHT (Y INTERCEPT). THE SLOPE OF 3 IS THE 3 INCHES PER YEAR WITH X BEING THE NUMBER OF YEARS OF NEW GROWTH.
EXAMPLE: IN 5 YEARS THE TREE WILL BE Y INCHES TALL OR
Y=3*5+48
Y=15+48
Y=63 INCHES TALL
