Question 662601: use the method of elimination to solve the system of linear equations.
3x - y = 3
7x - 2y = 8
the solution is___. (type an ordered pair)
Thanks!

Answer by mananth(16946)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3 x -1 y = 3 .............1

7 x -2 y = 8 .............2
Eliminate y
multiply (1)by -2
Multiply (2) by 1
-6 x 2 y = -6
7 x -2 y = 8
Add the two equations
1 x = 2
/ 1
x = 2
plug value of x in (1)
3 x -1 y = 3
6 -1 y = 3
-1 y = 3 -6
-1 y = -3
y = 3
(2,3) is the solution of the system
