Hi,
Please help me solve this equation?
y = 1/2x -5
IF you are solving for x
2(y+5) = x

Uh oh! The other tutor's answer has a sign wrong.

      y = x - 5

Multiply both sides by 2 to clear of fractions:

     2y = 2x - 10

     2y = x - 10
 +10        + 10
----------------
2y + 10 = x

Swap sides.

      x = 2y + 10
