Question 66104: I am trying to help my daughter with the following problem:
C Street has an x-intercept of -8 and a slope of 2. Use the x-intercept point to write the equation of C Street in point-slope form.
We then have to draw the street on a grid. I really appreciate your help because I have tried to find how to solve this everywhere!

Answer by algebrapro18(249)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the point is (-8,0) and the slope is 2

the equation for a line in point slope form is

pluging into the formula we get:
y - 0 = 2(x + 8)
this is the equation of the line in point slope form

simplifying we get:
y = 2x + 16

from this we see that the graph intersects the y-axis at 16 and you can go up to in the y direction and over 1 in the x direction and you will have the graph.
