slope=∆y/∆x=rise/run=change in y/change in x=[5-(-3)]/[(-2)-(-1)]=(5+3)/(-2+1)=8/-1=-8
slope,m=-8
equation: y=-8x+b
solve for b using coordinates from either one of given points (-2,5)
5=-8*-2+b
5=16+b
b=5-16=-11
