How many gallons of a 4% acid solution should be mixed 

with 30 gallons of a 14% acid solution to obtain a mixture that is 8% acid?

  acid = acid

 .04x + .14·30 = .08(30-x)  |Solve for x, may first multiply thru by 100 if you like
