Question 627667: the line y=3x+4 and y=ax+2 are parallel if a = ?
i'm confused on to how to figure this out.

Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The slope of y=3x+4 is 3

The slope of y=ax+2 is 'a'.

Parallel lines have equal slopes.

So the slope of y=ax+2 must also be 3

Therefore, a = 3
