We start with the number n :

So to begin with, we have " n "

>>...double the number...<<
Now so far we have " 2n "
>>...add 5...<<
Now so far we have " 2n + 5 "

>>...double the result...<<
Now so far we have " 2(2n+5) " or " 4n + 10 "
>>...subtract 10...<<
Now so far we have " 4n+10 - 10 ", or " 4n "
>>...divide the answer by 4<<
Now so far we 4n/4 or " n ", back where we started!
So no matter what you start with, you end up with what you started with,
So if you start with 1, 3, 5 or 7, or any other number, you end up with 1, 3,
5, or 7, or whatever number you started with.
