Plot the following straight line graph:
-5x - 15y = 15
Add 5x to each side of the equation.
-5x - 15y + 5x = 15 + 5x
Combine like terms:
-5x + 5x = 0
We now have:
-15y = 15 + 5x
Divide each item by 5
-15y/5 = 15/5 + 5x/5
-3y = 3 + x or
-3y = x + 3
Divide each item by -3
-3y/-3 = x/-3 + 3/-3
y = -1x/3 - 1

From the above we get the following coordinates for x and y.
(-6,1)
(-3,0)
(0,-1)
(3,-2)
(6,-3)

Plotting the above graph:
x-intercept = -3 and
y-intercept = -1

The Slope (m) = rise/run = -2/6 = -1/3
Slope (m) = -1/3

The other method:
(y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)
= -3 - (-2) / 6 - 3
= -3 - (-2) = -3 + 2 = -1
= 6 - 3 = 3
Slope (m) = -1/3

The equation of the straight line is:
y = -1x/3 - 1
