I have tried entering 0 into x and y but when i do that, but ordered pairs come out (0,0) and that doesnt work

Rewrite the equation:
y=3x
you can now see that if x=0, y=0.
All this means is that (0,0) is a point on the line
Also, note that the slope of the line=3. This is a standard form of an equation for a straight line:
y=mx+b, m=slope, b=y-intercept
For given equation, y=3x, the slope=3 and y-intercept=0
To get a second point of the line to complete the graph:
starting from point (0,0), go up 3 units and 1 unit to the right (rise/run=∆y/∆x)
