Hi,
Re TY, Good Luck to You!
The toughest part of most word Problems is assigning that first variable!
For Myself, use the example of just getting that done as the step.
One plane travels 65km/h slower than the other traveling at
D = rt
2hr(r-65) + 2hr(r) = 3438mi
4r = 3568
r = 892 mph and the other rate is 827mph
CHECKING our Answer***
2hr· 892mph + 2hr· 827mph = 3438mi
Answer by scrapper1880(1)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3438=r*2
divide both sides by 2
= 1719
r1+r2=r1-65
r1+r1-65=1719
Add 65 to both sides
2r1=1784
Divide both sides by 2
r1=892
r2=892-65=827
Check it: 892+827= 1719
