Question 606219: what is the equation of a line with a slope of 4 and passes through point (1,-4)?
Answer by mathie123(224) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
We know that the equation of a line can always be written in the form
where m is the slope of the line and b is the y intercept of the line(keep in mind for other questions that the y intercept of a line always has an x value of 0 for it).
Using this we have
and a point that we can use:
Now substituting these points into our line equation we will solve for b:
So we have our equation for our line!
Hopefully this all is clear!(let me know if not:) )
