- Two angles are complementary.� The sum of the measures of the first angle and half the second angle is 64�. Find the measures of the angles.
I've been stuck on this for about a half hour. I'm not sure if I need to make a linear equation to solve to be able to figure out the angles, or what I need to do. Please help!

Let the two angles be A and B, then:
1) A+B = 90 degrees. "Two angles are complementary."
2) A+B/2 = 64 degrees. "The sum of the measures of the first angle and half the second angle is 64 degrees.
Multiply equation 2) by 2 to get:
2a) 2A+B = 128 Subtract 2A from both sides.
2b) B = 128-2A and substitute this into equation 1) for B.
1a) A+(128-2A) = 90 Simplify and solve for A.
1b) 128-A = 90 Subtract 128 from both sides.
2c) -A = -38 Multiply both sides by -1.
2d) A = 38 degrees and B = 90-38 = 52 degrees.
