When given the equation of a line, we can find the slope by putting the graph in slope intercept form:, m=slope and (0,b) is the y-intercept.
:
-4x+2y=8
4x-4x+2y=4x+8
2y=4x+8
2y/2=4x/2+8/2
y=2x+4
the slope, m=2
To graph using the slope intercept form , first plot the y-intercept,(0,b)=(0,4)
From that point use the slope to plot a second point. Slope is m=rise/run=2/1
Rise 2 units up and one unit right and plot a second point at what should be (1,6).
Connect the points and you should have a line that looks like this:
