: if the equation is y+1/2x=0, how would you find the slope and y-intercept?? i'm used to seeing it as y=mx+b???? and if the equation is y=3x-9, would the slope be 3, and y intercept -9??? This question is from textbook

Answer by algebrapro18(249)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
all you have to do is solve for y and it will be in the form y=mx+b
y +1 /2x = 0
y = -1/2x
so now the slope is -1/2 and the y-intercept is 0
