At what point does the line (x+4)/2 = (y-6)/-1 = (z+2)/4 meet the co-ordinate planes?
EQN.OF XY PLANE IS Z =0
(X+4)/2 = (0+2)/4=1/2
X+4=1
X=-3
(Y-6)/-1 = (0+2)/4=1/2
Y-6=-1/2
Y=6-0.5 = 5.5
HENCE THE LINE MEETS XY PLANE AT (-3,5.5,0)
EQN. OF YZ PLANE IS X=0
(0+4)/2 = (Y-6)/-1 = (Z+2)/4
Y-6=-2
Y=4
Z+2=8
Z=6
HENCE THE LINE MEETS YZ PLANE AT (0,4,6)
EQN.OF ZX PLANE IS Y=0
(x+4)/2 = (0-6)/-1 = (z+2)/4
X+4=12
X=8
Z+2=24
Z=22
HENCE THE LINE MEETS ZX PLANE AT (12,0,22)
thank you in advance...
