Question 564609: Please help me understand how to solve this.
t+m=2.10
2t+3m=5.15

Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
t + m = 2.10
2t+3m = 5.15
:
We are going use elimination here:
multiply the 1st equation by 2 and subtract from the 2nd equation
2t + 3m = 5.15
2t + 2m = 4.20
---------------subtraction eliminates t, find m
0t + m = .95
m = .95
:
Find t using the 1st equation, replace m with .95
t + .95 = 2.10
t = 2.10 - .95
t = 1.15
:
:
Check our solution of t=1.15 and m=.95 in the 2nd equation
2t + 3m = 5.15
replace t and m
2(1.15) + 3(.95 =
2.30 + 2.85 = 5.15 which is correct
;
How about now, do you understand this?
