Let g be a linear function. If g(1)=3 and g(-4)=c, find the value of the constant c such that the line will have a slope equal to -1.
LET G(X)=Y=AX+B...........G(1)=3
3=A*1+B=A+B.......................1
G(-4)=C
C=A*(-4)+B=-4A+B.........................2
EQN.1-EQN.2
3-C=A-(-4A)=5A
A=(3-C)/5
HENCE EQN.OF LINE IS
G(X)=Y=[(3-C)/5]X+B
SLOPE = (3-C)/5 = -1
3-C=-5
C=3+5=8
