Answer by hulamc723(15)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x+3y=-29
x+4y=-32
solve for x by first subtracting 4y fromt he second equation to het x=-32-4y
then plug in -32-4y into the first equation for x
so you get 2(-32-4y)+3y=-29 or -64-8y+3y=-29 or -64-5y=-29
add 64 to both sides to get -5y=35 so y=-7
no plug y into the second equation to solve for x
you get x+4(-7)=-32 or x-28=-32 add 28 to both sides to get x=-4
the answer is (-4,-7)

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1st: 2x+3y=-29
2nd: x+4y=-32
Multiply 2nd by 2 to get:
3rd: 2x+8y=-64
Subtract 3rd from 1st to get:
-5y=35
y=-7
Substitute into 2nd to solve for "x", as follows:
x+4(-7)=-32
x-28=-32
x=-4
Check in 1st:
2(-4)+3(-7)=-29
-8-21=-29
It checks.
