A manufacturer sends 1200 parts to customer in two batches. Each unit of the first batch costs $35 while each unit in the second batch costs $37. if the total cost was $43600 how many units were there in each batch.
-----
Equations:
Quantity::::: x + y = 1200
Value:::::: 35x+37y = 43600
---------------------------------
Multiply thru the Quantity Equation by 35:
35x + 35y = 35*1200
35x + 37y = 43600
---
Subtract and solve for "y":
2y = 1600
y = 800 (# of $37 units)
---
Solve for "x":
x + y = 1200
x + 800 = 1200
x = 400 (# of $35 units)
